We were so happy to read your first Headlamp story! WE MISS
YOU!
I am sure your cultural shock will improve with time. Keep up your good work!
Looking forward to your next story.
Today we were awaken to our first snow fall with 12””. Also our election lost was a shocker!!! We are sad, but life will go on & we must continue with democracy guardrails as citizens.
Touche. Fun fact, in my day, the only English I remember hearing was "Mr. Bombastic, you're fantastic!" (Yelled at me constantly from across streets). Haha. Apparently it was a Levi's claymation commercial which was all the rage. All. The. Rage. I'm having PTSD just thinking about it.
(BTW, have you been told about ‘reverse culture shock”? get ready for that when you come home. You will never look at your home country the same way again.)
I think it’s safe to say that years from now you will still look back on this as one of the most transformative times of your life! I love reading your posts and seeing how you are making sense of your experiences and your host country. What a gift that you are able to do this and share it so eloquently with us!

Wow look at you holding onto your Indonesian! After what, like, 100 years?

I was just talking about this with other Americans! I foresee the price of everything being the most jarring part...
